English, Math and Science for middle and upper school, written as school years out of the rooms the labs already run. And every lab as a family — Graphic Design, Cybersecurity, AI & Machine Learning, Industrial Design, Music Theory and Music Engineering, Video Production, Culinary Arts, Personal Care, Welding — its year, each course inside it on its own, and the rooms it opens, in plain language first and the building’s own names under it. The labs are not electives: every course in them is graded to the core across the board, and the coloured squares on each card say how much reading & writing, math, science, history, coding, technology, art, PE and business it carries. Take any course as the year, a semester or a single nine-week quarter; the window changes, the course does not. Open any card for the plan, week by week.
The squares are a picture of a course — how much of each core subject its own rooms carry, read from the rooms’ text — never a score of a student. Every course in a lab is graded to the core across the board; the squares say which columns it feeds most. A quarter is nine weeks and one project; a semester two; the year four. A course inside a lab is as long as the lab wrote it — a quarter, a semester, a year — and is offered in any window that fits. The rooms a course opens live inside METTIE, behind a student’s login; the plan on each course page is public. Nothing in this catalog is a grade.
